0:15 How To Emoji Search
To start, we have to open a text editing app, like Messages, for example. Select an existing conversation or open a new chat. Tap on the text field to bring up the keyboard. Next, tap the emoji icon, bottom-left corner of the screen to bring up the emoji keyboard.

Search suggestions are refreshing after each letter that you type. Let's start typing swim. As soon as I write the first three letters I'm prompted with suggestions regarding swimwear, the actual swimming action as well as diving or snorkeling.
Tap the desired emoji and add it to your conversation.
1:32 Recently Used Emojis
The recently used emojis are displayed in the scrubber available right below the emoji search bar.
There's also the classic 'Recents' tab that remains a 5 by 6 rectangle in iOS 14, which means that it can host only the standard 30 most recent emojis.

There are two things that you need to get the search emoji feature on your iPhone and iPad:

Hi everyone and welcome to the iPhoneTricks.org YouTube channel. In today's episode I'll show you how to rename the Bluetooth devices that are connected to your iPhone. This is a new iOS 14 feature. So, let's dive right into it.
0:15 Browse for Bluetooth Settings
First, we have to open the Settings app. Tap on 'Bluetooth' and check out the list with all devices that have been paired with your iPhone. The ones that are connected at the moment are labeled with a 'Connected' tag. Only connected devices can be renamed!
0:41 Rename Bluetooth Device
Tap the blue 'i' icon, available next to the 'Connected' label. Next, tap on the 'Name' field. Use the backspace to delete the devices's default name. In this tutorial I'm changing the name of my Bluetooth loudspeaker that I use in the yard. That's why I used, 'Yard speaker' in this video. Tap 'Back' and you're done.
Tip: When choosing a new name, use something suggestive that will help you to easily recognize the specific device in the Bluetooth list.
1:05 Reviewing the Change
If you check the My Devices list in the Bluetooth section, you'll see that's much easier to recognize your device when the name is customized.
I suggest you to rename all devices.
Important: The Bluetooth device has to be in range and connected with the iPhone for the renaming feature to work! Else you only get the 'Forget This Device' option.

One of the biggest chances in iOS 14 are the Home Screen widgets. There are two types of glances that can be added to the iPhone Home pages. Widgets from stock apps and widgets belonging to third party apps.
In this video I'll show you how you can add third party widgets to the iOS 14 Home Screen, from the Public Beta stage. You need to install Apple's Testflight app on your iPhone and download test versions of third party apps that are already working on widgets for the iOS 14 Home Screen.
Third party widgets become available in the Widget editor as soon as you agree and start testing an app that features widgets. Because new apps start developing iOS 14 widgets daily, we've created an open list with the available test versions at: links:

Hi everyone and welcome to the iPhoneTricks.org YouTube channel. In today's episode I'll show you how to test third party app widgets for the iOS 14 Home Screen. Let's dive right into it!
0:15 Download the TestFlight app
First, you have to download the TestFlight app from the App Store. I already have it download it on my iPhone and have to tap Open to launch the app.
If you've never tested an app before, you have to tap the GET button, authenticate the download and be patient until the app is deployed on your iPhone or iPad.
0:35 Open TestFlight App
After the installation process completes tap Open to launch TestFlight on your iPhone. The Apps list will be empty. Next, you have to download the test version of an app that supports widgets for iOS 14 Home screen.
0:50 Download Third Party App With Widget
Open the iPhoneTricks.org link provided above and the source article of this video opens up. Scroll for the open list that includes more than 15 apps that provide Home Screen widgets for iOS 14. Tap their names to redirected to their Testflight download page.
For example, let's hit on Streaks.Tap on ACCEPT and hit Open. Next, review what developer ask you to test in this version and tap on 'Start Testing'.
Add a task, like a new Stand goal. Allow Streaks to get data from the Health app.
1:45 Add Test Third Party Home Screen Widgets
After installing the test version of a third party app you can return to the iOS 14 Home screen. Long-press on a free part of the screen to bring up the Edit mode. Tap the + in the top-left corner of ths screen and scroll for the newly installed widget.
Tap on Streaks and swipe for the desired size and layout. Let's select the large rectangle.
2:19 Add another Third Party widget
If you installed multiple third party apps you can add another widget by tapping on '+' again and selecting a new widget. For example, Unwind.
Select the desired size and layout and hit 'Add Widget'.
Tap Done, in the top-right corner to save the newly added widgets.
2:45 Home Screen Widget Limitations
In these early stages of iOS 14, Home Screen widgets are limited. They only act as glances and one-tap shortcuts for the respective app. You can't use widgets as toggles
3:00 Create Third Party Smart Stack Widget
You can also use third party app widgets to create a Smart Stack. You need at least two widgets with the same size. So, let's modify the Unwind widget and transform it in a large rectangle too.
Next, drag & drap one widget on top of the other and let it sink in. That's it you created a third party Smart Stack widget.
You can also add a stock widget to a smart stack and created a mixed Smart Stack. Let's the the large rectangle Clock widget. Drag & drop it over the existing Smart Stack and that's it you created a mixed stack.

To configure this feature you have to tap on Settings. Scroll for Accessibility and tap on Touch. Next, scroll all the way down until you reach the Back Tap label. Read the description that informs you that you can "double or triple tap the back of your iPhone to perform actions quickly".
Tap it and set the quick actions for the two gestures. First, tap on 'Double Tap' and scroll through the predefined iOS actions. You can pick anything from Accessibility Shortcuts, System functions (like Control Center, Lock Screen, Reachability, Screenshot), Accessibility features, Scroll Gestures and you can also assign a shortcut from the Shortcuts app.
To demonstrate this feature I'll select Control Center.
1:29 Selecting Quick Action For Triple Tap
For the triple tap you have the same list of predefined actions available. I'll pick AssistiveTouch for this gesture and return to the Home Screen.
1:36 Back Tap iPhone Demo
Let's demonstrate the new iOS 14 Back Tap feature. I'll take the iPhone in my hand. Notice what happens when I double tap it. One, two ... the Control Center pops up. If I double-tap again... one, two... the Control Center disappears.
One more time, one, two and this time I will slide it off.
2:08 Triple Tap iPhone Demo
This time I'll triple-tap the back of the iPhone. One, two, three ... Voila! The AssistiveTouch menu button pops up on the screen.
If I triple tap again it goes away.
2:24 Edit Back Tap Actions
You can tweak the quick actions assigned to the Back Tap feature from the same Settings menu. Tap on Double Tap and select something else. You can pick Notification Center or something more useful like Screenshot. This way you can printscreen your iPhone without needing to simultaneously press the Side Button and a Volume button.
Let's test it out!
2:54 Double Tap iPhone to Screenshot
One, two and an iPhone print-screen is triggered.
3:12 Change Triple Tap Action
For the triple tap you can assign another quick action. I would suggest Accessibility Shortcut but for this function to work you have to have the Accessibility Shortcut configured.
It can be done from the main Accessibility menu.
3:33 Long Press Back Arrow iOS 14 Trick
To configure it I'll show you another hidden iOS 14 command. In Settings, long-press the back arrow to jump between menu layers. Select Accessibility and scroll for Accessibility Shotcut and pick the action that you desire.

We can notice two highlighted categories called: 'Suggestions' and 'Recently Added'. In Suggestions you can find apps that you use most often, while the Recently Added one brings up the apps that you added recently on your iPhone.
There are other predefined categories that are created automatically by iOS 14, like: Social, Productivity, Creativity, Utilities and other.
1:05 App Library Search
If you can't get a quick glance of the app that you're looking for you can access the quick search available at the top of the screen. Just tap it and you have the list of all the apps available on your iPhone, ordered alphabetically.

Device limitations: iPhone (iOS). This watch free Netflix campaign works on any computer (Mac included), Android as wells as iPad (iPadOS). There's no explanation why iOS isn't included. Hi everyone and welcome to the iPhoneTricks.org YouTube channel.
6 years ago I've shown you how to calibrate the compass of the iPhone 5S. Back then it was done manually.
Today I'll show you how to calibrate the compass on the modern iPhones and also provide a few fixes in case the compass doesn't work as expected on your iOS device. So, let's dive right into it!
0:30 How To Enable Compass Calibration
First, we have to open the 'Settings' app and browse for 'Privacy', 'Location Services' and scroll all the way down to 'System Services'. Here, you have to make sure that 'Compass Calibration' is enabled.
Nowadays the iPhone compass is automatically calibrated using your GPS.
0:56 'Disable Use True North'
Next, let's check out another setting that might cause your compass to malfunction. So just scroll on the main settings menu for the 'Compass' app and here you have to disable the 'Use True North' option.
1:16 Back Tap to Troubleshoot
To Open the Compass app on your iPhone you can search for it with the help of Spotlight.
If the Compass on your iPhone is still not working properly another troubleshooting tip implies to grab your iPhone and physically back tap it.
This works if you use your iPhone with a case that has a magnetic flap that could intervene with the proper functioning of the iOS Compass.
1:45 Force Restart iPhone
Last but not least, if your iPhone Compass continues to malfunction you can also apply the good old Force Restart trick. Press and release 'Volume Up', 'Volume Down' and press & hold the Side Button and continue to hold it until the Apple logo is displayed on the screen.
Provide your passcode and you're ready to go.

Playing YouTube videos in the background from your iPhone is one of the most desired features among iOS users. Most likely, due to marketing reasons the feature isn't and won't be available too soon.
However, there is a trick that you can apply to play YouTube music on your iPhone while the device is locked. There have been many workarounds in the past, but they have been patched. In this article we show you the update one that works in the current iOS 13 and the upcoming iOS 14 in 2020.
The workaround implies an updated trick that requires you to play the YouTube videos in the Safari web browser and not via the iOS YouTube app. The 2020 trick requires you the 'Request the Desktop Webiste' and play the YouTube video in the desktop version of the YouTube website. I'll open YouTube and here I am searching for a video that I want to play in the background. Most of the time you'll be aiming for music and I'll suggest you to select a long video, so that you don't have to change the track all the time. Open it.
0:35 Copy YouTube Video Link
Tap the video screen to unveil the video commands. Tap on the 'Share' icon and 'Copy' the link.
0:39 Open Safari & Paste Link
Next, we have to open Safari. Long-press on the address bar and hit 'Paste and Go'. Ok, so we opened the selected video in the Safari browser.
1:00 Request Desktop Version
Next, we have to open the Desktop version of the web page by tapping on the 'aA' icon, here on the left side of the address bar. Tap on 'Request Dekstop Website'. Now, just play the video and return to the Home Screen. Playback stops but that's no problem.
1:17 Play from Control Center or Lock Screen
Swipe for the 'Control Center' and hit the 'Play' button , available in the 'Now Playing' section. Now you can lock your iPhone and you can see that the video keeps playing in the background.
Start your workout, host a garden party while listening to free YouTube music with this cool iPhone trick.
There is one more catch to this trick. Even if you watch via the desktop version of YouTube ads will be served. So, if you listen to the music in the background and the sound stops it means that you reach the section of the video with a mid-roll ad. To solve this, Pause the video and Re-Play it.
1:58 Conclusion
That's how to watch YouTube music in the background on your iPhone in iOS 13 and iOS 14. If you enjoyed this tip don't hesitate to 'Like' our video 'Subscribe' for more and visit iPhoneTricks.org daily for tips and tricks related to your favorite Apple products.

Updating an iPhone from iOS 13 to iOS 14 takes in total between 30 - 40 minutes if we take in account, software update file download time, preparation and the installation itself.
In fact, our test took exactly 38 minutes, 38 seconds and 37 milliseconds to update an iPhone XS from iOS 13.7 to iOS 14.
Tip: You can significantly reduce this time if you use the 'Automatic Updates' feature and allow your iPhone to download and prepare iOS 14 software update in the background. However, if you want to be among the first ones to download it today, or release day you have to do it manually.
Fact: Automatic Updates are drip-feed and occur with a delay, to prevent the Apple servers from overloading.

This is the first thing that you have to do after updating your iPhone to iOS14.
Welcome to the iPhoneTricks.org YouTube channel and let's dive right into the content!
Long-press on App Store, tap on 'Updates'. Refresh and hit 'Update All'.
Why is this important because iOS14 brings lots of new features and enhancements and third-party apps have to update to it in order to benefit from all the new functions.
For example, you see here Shazam informing you that it's ready for iOS 14.
Update DuckDuckGo and you're informed that you can use it as a default browser on your iPhone.
Search for DuckDuckGo in the Settings app. Tap on it! Select 'Default Browser App' and set DuckDuckGo as the default browser on your iPhone.
The same goes for Microsoft Outlook. If you update it you'll be able to use it as the default mail client on your iOS 14 device.
Scroll for the app in Settings. Tap on Outlook, select 'Default Mail App' and switch for 'Outlook'.
After you install all app updates, long-press on the Home Screen. Tap the '+' icon, in the top-left corner of the screen and scroll for the available widgets list.
Here try to pinpoint a new widget. For example. DuckDuckGo, in my case, choose the size and tap on 'Add Widget'.
And go back to the list and see if you can spot a new third-party widget that wasn't available before.
Pedometer is a new one for me. Add Widget and tap 'Done'.
For more third-party Home Screen widgets you can visit iPhoneTricks.org. I've provided a link in the description, and... scroll through the list to see which apps have already updated with this feature. We have about 40 collected at the moment but this is an open list and we are updating it several times a day.
Just tap on the link and download the app, and install the widget from the list.

iOS 14 updates the photo hiding feature for delicate iPhone photos, that you don't want to share with others, but neither delete. Users can now hide the 'Hidden Album' and conceal their images and videos a notch better.
Privacy isn't total though, because the Hidden folder is still available in the image picker section of third party apps. This means that anyone that can access your iPhone, when it's unlocked, can find your hidden files if it tries to attach photos, via a third party image sharing application.
We're still waiting for the option to restrict access to photos with a Passcode or Face ID, but I guess we'll have to add this to the wishlist of iOS 15.

You have to watch this video if you want to know how to really hide photos on your iPhone.
Until now, in iOS13, you could select one ore more photos and videos, use the Share button and use the 'Hide' option to conceal the image. Confirm and 'Voila!' your photos are hidden... but the crazy part is that all of the media is still available in the Hidden folder (Hidden Album), below the Utilities tab.
So, anyone that would have access to your unlocked iPhone could see the hidden files.
iOS14 fixes this and there is a new setting available in the Photos section... called 'Hidden Album'.
Be careful here: 'When enabled the Hidden Album will appear in the Albums tab, under Utilities.'
So, you actually have to disable it, to hide the album.
Let's return to the Photos app and... 'Voila!' the Hidden Album has disappeared from the Utilities section.
Unfortunately, the HIdden Album is still available if you use the image picker of third-party apps.
For example, if've entered WhatsApp and I'll try to add a photo from the Photo library... and 'Voila!' the Hidden files are displayed and available for everyone that has access to your iPhone.
To unhide photos and videos from your iPhone, you have to open Settings and here you have to bring back the Hidden Album. Return to the Photos app, in the Albums tab. Scroll all the way down to Utilities and tap on 'Hidden'.
Now, just select any of the photos or videos that you want to unhide. Tap the Share button. Scroll the Share Sheet's menu until you reach 'Unhide'. Tap it and your photos become available in the CameraRoll.
And that's how to hide photos in iOS14! If you enjoyed this tip don't hesitate to give us a 'Like', 'Subscribe' to our YouTube channel and visit iPhoneTricks.org daily for tips and tricks related to your favorite Apple products.

You've updated your iPhone to iOS 14 and want to use one of the most hyped features, but the Home Screen widgets are not showing up in the 'Add Widget' list as expected?
Apple has confirmed that a small glitch has found its way in the initial release of iOS 14.
The fix is to open the freshly downloaded third-party app before attempting to use its widget. Right after you run the app, return to the Home Screen, long-press to enter 'Edit' mode, scroll for the new widget, select the desired size and use the 'Add Widget' option.
This video also shows an extended collection of almost 100 App Store apps that have already updated with support for the iOS 14 Home Screen widgets feature. You can browse the collection and download the apps (most of them are FREE of charge), using the link from the resources section available below.

Alongside the spectacular new Home Screen widgets, iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 allow you to change your app icons for a fully customizable Home Screen appearance.
Changing app icons in iOS 14 requires you to create a shortcut via the stock Shortcuts app. You will assign the new app icon to the shortcut and add it to the iPhone or iPad Home Screen.
This is the first and only way to change iPhone app icons without having to jailbreak your device.
All steps are shown in this video alongside with tips about how to remove the original apps from the Home Screen and send them to the App Library. We also show you how to revert to the original layout without too much hassle.
Before you start you have to know that this trick comes with two important shortcomings:
1. The app will open through the Shortcuts app which results in a small delay.
2. The notification badges for apps won't be available anymore because you will be using a bookmark that impersonates the original app and not the actual app.
Starting in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, you can add image descriptions in Photos so people who use screen readers, like VoiceOver, can hear the descriptions read out loud.
