Consumer demands have evolved quite a bit in the more than 13 years since Apple released its first smartphone.
The company announced four phones at today’s event: the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max with starting prices ranging from $599 to $1,099.All of the new devices share some key common features: 5G connectivity, the new magnetic MagSafe connector, OLED displays and the A14 chip, for starters.

Oct.13 -- Apple Inc. unveiled its latest range of IPhone which support high-speed 5G data transmission. Carolina Milanesi, analyst at Creative Strategies, LLC, discusses the announcement on "Bloomberg Technology."
The iPhone 12 is landing today (October 13). Apple is holding an event at 10am PT, 1pm ET or 6pm BST, or 4am AEDT in Australia on October 14 and you can tune in live.

We're expecting the iPhone 12 to be joined by the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Mini is the odd one out there as Apple has never launched a phone with mini in the name, but there's plenty of evidence to suggest it might do so this year.
So what do we expect from the new iPhone for 2020 when it does arrive? Beyond there being a new model in the range these are also very likely to be the first iPhones with 5G, while a LiDAR scanner, new screen sizes, and more power in the form of the A14 Bionic chipset that debuted in the iPad Air 4, are all rumored too.
Apple’s upcoming launch follows hot on the heels of a September 15 event that focused on the Apple Watch 6, Apple Watch SE, iPad Air 4, a new iPad, the Apple One subscription services, and the launch of a new service called Apple Fitness+. That likely means the iPhone 12 launch will be dedicated purely to the phone, but the Apple event may feature other launches too.

Just keep in mind, many (or most) of you reading this won’t be able to take advantage of the fastest “millimeter wave” speeds Apple bragged about during this presentation. The technology has limited availability on limited carriers, mostly in urban areas.
And even if you live in a city with millimeter wave 5G, the signal has limited range and can’t penetrate through walls. You need to be standing right near the tower. Good luck using it indoors.

One model of iPhone 12 Pro will have a bigger display that Apple says is the largest iPhone screen it has released so far.

The iPhone 12 mini packs a lot into a very compact design
The iPhone 12 mini is arguably the most intriguing new iPhone 12 that Apple has launched. For one, it's the most compact new iPhone in years — even moreso than the existing 4.7-inch iPhone SE. It also offers many of the same features of the regular iPhone 12 for a much more affordable price.
The iPhone 12 mini features a 5.4-inch OLED display, Apple's new A14 Bionic chipset, 5G connectivity and a dual-lens rear camera armed with Cupertino's latest computational photography knowhow. It costs $699, which is $100 less than the 6.1-inch iPhone 12.

As the cheapest among the four new iPhone 12 handsets, the iPhone 12 mini looks as if it could be a front runner among the best small phones. It will undoubtedly provide Apple with a direct competitor to value-oriented flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and Google Pixel 5. The iPhone 12 mini reaches stores on November 13, and starts at $699. At this price, you're getting 64GB of storage. Pre-orders begin November 6.
iPhone 12 mini size and design The iPhone 12 mini sports slimmer bezels and a flatter frame, like the rest of the iPhone 12 line. In some ways, it hearkens back to the iPhone 5 days. The notch unfortunately looks to be the same size as it was on previous models.
The iPhone 12 mini comes in five colors: black, white, Product Red, green and blue, and Apple calls it the smallest, thinnest and lightest 5G phone in the world.
Apple is incorporating a new type of cover glass for the front of the iPhone 12 mini, called Ceramic Shield. Developed in conjunction with Corning, Apple says this new technology is tougher than any smartphone glass, citing 4x better drop performance than existing glass used on iPhones, and the biggest step forward for durability yet for Apple's handsets.
With the iPhone 12 line, Apple is moving from LCD displays in its cheaper models to Super Retina XDR-quality OLED displays across the board. In the iPhone 12 mini's case, that technology is packed into a 5.4-inch frame. That makes the iPhone 12 mini's footprint markedly smaller than even the iPhone SE's.
Behind the rear cover glass of the iPhone 12 mini is a sophisticated new MagSafe magnet that helps locate the device on a wireless charger. These magnets can also be used for new accessories, including a snap-on wallet and various case designs.
