NFC is a clever technology which is gradually appearing in more and more places. For instance, contactless Bank Cards and Store Cards all feature an NFC chip.
Shortcuts on iPhone can now react to being near these NFC chips and can run actions when you tap your phone against one. That means you can tap your iPhone against your bank card and it'll open up the banking app linked to that account! Or you can link your supermarket loyalty card so that it opens up your shopping list in Reminders when you bring your iPhone nearby. It opens up a world of possibilities. This short and easy-to-follow tutorial will get you up and running in no time.

iMovie has just had a major update that brings with it two awesome new features. The first of these, Magic Movie, is covered in this short and easy-to-follow tutorial video.
We all know about the Memories feature in Photos, where your device will automatically make a little highlights video of an event or occasion. Magic Movie is similar to this, but with an absolute ton more customisability. You can select media and iMovie will use clever Machine Learning to make a Magic Movie out of it. Then you can edit each clip, add a theme, titles and soundtrack. It's great as a 30-second tap-and-done or as a more in-depth starting point for an edit.
Also new in iMovie is the Storyboard Mode. I've made another video about that here: some helpful editing tips for both Magic Movies and Storyboards, check out my latest iMovie video here: can learn more about Magic Movie on the Apple Teacher Learning Center here:

iMovie has just had a major update that brings with it two awesome new features. My favourite of the two, Storyboards, is covered in this short and easy-to-follow tutorial video.
With Storyboards you no longer have to dive straight into a blank timeline in iMovie. Instead you can choose a topic (News Report, Product Review, Top 5 etc etc) and Movie will get you started by providing a detailed and well thought-out Shot List. It'll suggest when to do a close-up shot, when to talk directly to camera and what content to include as a voiceover. It's incredibly easy (and fun!) to use.
Also new in iMovie is the awesome Magic Movie feature. I've made another video about that here: some helpful editing tips for both Magic Movies and Storyboards, check out my latest iMovie video here: can learn more about Storyboards on the Apple Teacher Learning Center here:

With Qlone 3D scanning just got even easier. Scanning 3D objects used to require specialised hardware and expensive software, but you can now do it using a free app on your iPad or iPhone! The newest version of Qlone lets you scan in any object (large or small) using just the camera on your iOS device. That means you can scan in objects and create virtual models right on your iPad. I recently had the chance to go to London and experience Augmented Reality (AR) Walking Directions in Apple Maps for the first time. Here's how (and where) it works...
In certain cities you can activate a new mode for walking directions, which will overlay large arrows and street names into the world around you. People can walk around (and even behind) them, they cast a shadow, they glow and direct you. But they're just in certain places. Whilst this is certainly a great concept, it needs to be in far more towns and cities for it to be truly useful. Still, this #QuickTip will show you how to use these AR guides and what they look like.

In iOS 14 you can hide all apps from your iPhone Home screen. This is done with the help of the new app page hiding feature and a hidden trick presented in this video.
The tutorial is recorded on an iPhone XS running iOS 14 Public Beta 3. We're not sure if hiding all apps from the iPhone Home Screen is a new feature or rather a glitch that will be filtered out before the public release.
Notice in the video how iOS 14 seems to require at least one app page to remain available. But when we apply the trick we manage to un-select all of them.
A bug does surface when we try to add the app pages back. Doing it the normal way via the pagination dots, crashes the app. A workaround is provided that requires you to first add a Home Screen widget, to create a new page, before the dots become active. Tap them and you will manage to bring back one or more hidden app pages.

Starting with iOS 14 you can record and send audio messages with Siri. This allows you to communicate with a contact without touching your iPhone. It's particularly helpful when you're driving.
All that you have to do is invoke Siri with the help of the 'Hey Siri' command and speak out 'Send audio message to [contact name] '.
If you have multiple contacts with the same name saved on your iPhone or iPad you'll be asked to pick the one that you wish to contact. Else, Siri will ask you to speak out the audio message.
Stop speaking when you finish and the recording will be displayed, framed on the Siri interface. You can ask Siri to replay it or directly send it.
The audio message becomes available in the Messages app, in the discussion thread that you use with the specific contact.
Fact: Audio messages are deleted, by default, after 2 minutes. You can tweak this in Settings - Messages - Audio Messages. Set Expire to 'Never'.

0:00 Start
Hi Everyone! Welcome to the iPhoneTricks.org YouTube channel. In this episode I'll show you how to install iOS 14 Public Beta on your iOS device.
Before we start make sure that your iPhone is compatible with iOS 14. As a rule of thumb devices that support iOS 13 are also able to run iOS 14.
0:32 Download iOS 14 Beta Configuration Profile.
Use Safari to open beta.apple.com (the Apple Beta Software Program). Sign In or Sign Up. In both cases you need your Apple ID.
Scroll for the 'Get Started' section and tap on 'enroll your iOS device'. Next, scroll for Install Profile and tap on 'Download profile'. 'Allow' the download and tap on 'Close' to remove the prompt.
1:42 Install iOS 14 Beta Configuration Profile
Open the Settings app and tap on General. Scroll for Profile and tap on the recently downloaded iOS 14 & iPadOS 14 Beta Profile. Hit 'Install'. Provide your iPhone's Passcode. Tap Install one more time and the 3rd time too.
Next, tap on Restart to allow your iPhone to reboot and register the profile.
2:12 Download iOS 14 Public Beta
After the iPhone restarts browse for 'Settings - General - Software Update'. The iOS 14 Public Beta screen is loaded. Proceed as you would regularly do with any other over-the-air public software update. Tap on 'Download and Install'. Provide your device's Passcode and Agree with Apple's Terms. Next, be patient until the software update is downloaded and prepared for updating.
